August Workshops

August Class Descriptions

Pests & Parasites

Join us for an in-depth workshop as we discuss the most common threats to your hive and equipment: wax moths, small hive beetles, and the notorious varroa destructor mite, we'll briefly discuss a new mite on the horizon as well. We’ll cover Integrated Pest Management strategies, including how to spot early warning signs, prevent infestations before they take hold, and respond effectively when a problem is already underway. Whether you’re a new beekeeper or a seasoned hand, you’ll leave with practical, proactive tools to keep your colonies healthy and thriving.

Wax Rendering

Ever wondered what to do with all that beeswax after honey harvest? In this hands-on class, we’ll take wax cappings and transform them into beautiful, clean wax blocks ready for crafts, candles, or reuse in your beekeeping. We’ll also cover how to process old beeswax and what steps to take with colonies that didn’t make it through the season. You’ll leave knowing how to turn every part of the hive into something useful.
